Venetian Plaster Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have questions about our Authentic Lime Plaster? Here are some of the most-asked Venetian Plaster FAQ.
Over what types of surfaces can these plasters be applied?
Authentic Italian plaster wall finishes can be applied over new or existing drywall, wood, bricks, tile, concrete board, fireplace surrounds, columns, interior walls and ceilings, and some exterior walls. Some plasters must be applied over a perfectly smooth surface. Please contact us to find out if your desired plaster can go over your existing surface.
Venetian Plaster FAQ:
How much does it cost?
Plaster Artistry projects are priced “per project”. Prices will vary according to many factors, including the plaster finish desired, size of the project (number of square feet), and time projected to complete. Special circumstances also affect the project price, such as wall space over 9 feet high, ceilings, niches, bullnose edges, custom tinted plaster, difficult to access spaces, scaffolding, etc.
Before pricing your project, we must know the type of area and the number of square feet to be plastered. This is because we need to be certain that we have enough of your chosen plaster, and plaster tint if desired, to complete your project, and that we will be able to estimate the time required to complete.
Please contact us for a quote on your space. All prices quoted include materials and labor.
Are your products “green”?
Yes. Our natural lime plasters and paints are VOC-free. Our synthetic plasters have extremely low VOCs. They are all manufactured according to European environmental standards, which are much more stringent than US standards.
Venetian Plaster FAQ:
Can you customize a plaster finish just for me?
Yes. Because of the artistic nature of Italian plaster application, each wall will be a unique statement with its own distinctive look.
We will work with you or your designer to customize colors or combine plaster finishes, creating a beautifully coordinated look within your overall plan.
You may consider stencils as a way to add a distinctly custom look. They may be used to create a raised pattern on your wall, or to create a “watermark” effect, leaving the wall surface smooth. Either effect works well for any custom look you may desire, from vines in your kitchen to your business logo in the reception area.
Venetian Plaster FAQ:
What are the advantages of authentic Italian plaster, as opposed to “faux”?
Some of the many advantages include:
*Our natural earth colorants will not fade or change over time.
Faux uses synthetic colorants which will fade, change color, or begin to look “tired” with age.
*Most of our plaster finishes are much more durable than faux. Italian plaster’s durability makes it ideal for high traffic areas in your home, business or commercial setting.
*Authentic Italian plaster finishes are environmentally friendly. This creates a healthier environment for your home or business than faux.
Faux plaster is just thickened paint, and continues to release VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) long after it has dried.
*Authentic Venetian plaster and Italian plaster finishes give a much more high-end look to your home or business than even a well-executed faux finish.
*”Faux” is the French word for “Fake” or “False”. A faux painter attempts to portray the look of “Real”, using paint, glaze, and additives.
Authentic Venetian plaster and Italian plaster finishes are “Real”.
